We are an AISC-certified fabricator supplying structural and miscellaneous steel for construction projects across the United States.
Founded and operated in Fredonia, Kansas, we are centrally located in the heart of the Midwest. R.K. Steel prides itself on creating strong and lasting partnerships--many spanning decades.
Our Story
Roger and Karen Compton, the R and K of R.K. Steel, Inc., started the company in 1993. Roger, a welder/fabricator since 1978, partnered with Karen to guide the business-side of the operation. Together, their dedication to their customers propelled R.K. Steel to great success in the custom and miscellaneous steel market in the late 90s and early 2000s. In 2010, R.K. Steel diversified its services into the structural steel market.
In 2023, Roger and Karen sold the business to their family, Caleb Compton, Seth Baker, and Travis Kelley. Together, they have 40 years of experience covering all aspects the company's operations. Today, R.K. Steel has grown to over 50 employees and supplies general contractors with 15 million pounds of steel each year.
